Update – Changes to Learning Delivery When Students are Absent

Update to Families – Changes to Learning Delivery When Absent
February 10, 2022

Dear Secondary School Families,

We are implementing some changes to the way learning will be provided when students are absent.

For the duration of the second semester, the following delivery model will be applied for in-person learners on days when they are absent from class.

  • Teachers will post student work in their virtual classrooms by the end of each day for any students who are absent.
  • On an ongoing basis, teachers will respond to any questions they receive from absent students via the virtual learning classroom, and determine if any additional help is needed in order to support them in their success.
  • Upon their return to school, students will be accommodated so that they are able to transition back to class with proper assessment and additional instruction as needed prior to any evaluation occurring (i.e. tests, assignments).
  • Parents are to contact their school principal or vice principal in cases where their child will be absent for a prolonged period of time.

This learning delivery model will be in effect any time a student is absent, for any reason.  Please note that while the window has closed to have students move to remote learning, virtual students can return to face-to-face on a permanent basis at any time where the class size enables us to do so.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding in providing the stability needed in our classrooms.

Yours in Christ,

Dom Scuglia
Director of Education
