Reminders: School Expectations

With the first month of school complete, it should be apparent to all that we are back to “business as usual” with regards to school routines, expectations and activities. We greatly appreciate the support of parents and guardians in reinforcing the following messaging at home:

  1. School begins promptly at 8:20am. Chronic lateness to school is subject to progressive discipline. If you have any concerns relating to this issue, please contact your child(ren)’s Vice Principal at your earliest convenience.
  2. The school uniform consists of THREE mandatory items: a golf shirt, black SJB pants and solid black shoes. Everything else is optional. Sweaters must be worn with a golf shirt. Administrators have been working closely with students who have uniform items on backorder and will continue to do so. Throughout the month of October, random uniform checks will be conducted and teachers will be continued to enforce the dress code on a daily basis. Uniform infractions are subject to progressive discipline.
  3. Students are permitted to leave the school during their lunch period. They are not supervised when they are off-site. When they frequent the local community centre,  businesses and/or restaurants, it is our expectation and hope that they comport themselves in a manner befitting the school’s Code of Conduct. Showing respect and courtesy to our neighbours goes a long way in building positive relationships with our community partners. Possible consequences for misbehaviour in public could come from York Regional Police and/or City of Vaughan By-Law enforcement (i.e. tickets).
  4. Students who are driving to school are required to register their vehicle with the Main Office in order to receive a parking tag. Only those vehicles displaying a parking tag are authorized to park on school property. There is no cost to register a vehicle with the school.
