Preparing for the 2022/2023 School Year!

We hope the summer months have been filled with rest, rejuvenation and wonderful memories made with family and friends. We are in the process of preparing for the 2022/2023 school year and we are so excited to welcome students back.

Please make note of the following:

  1. Requesting Changes to Course Selection

Students may request a change to their existing course selection by completing the Google Form, using their K12 account. This request is for consideration only. Class availability is extremely limited and we cannot guarantee that requests can be honoured. Read the instructions clearly laid out in the Google Form carefully. Students who emailed their Guidance Counsellors over the summer requesting changes are to complete this form to make requests in order to make this process as equitable as possible. Guidance Counsellors will begin to review requests on Monday, August 29th and will accept them until Monday, September 12th.

  1. Graduation – Save the Date!

We are pleased to announce that the graduation of the Class of 2023 will be taking place on June 29, 2023. The ceremony will take place at the Embassy Grand, located at 8800 The Gore Road in Brampton, and will begin promptly at 11:00am

  1. Grade 9 Orientation

We cannot wait to welcome our newest Black Bears! On Wednesday, September 7th, only Grade 9 students will attend school for the full day. We have a fabulous day planned for students that will include a tour of the school, meeting student leaders and learning about co-curricular activities, navigating the timetable and some fantastic guest speakers to start the year off on the right foot. Lunch will be provided for students.

  1. September 8, 2022

All students will return to school on Thursday, September 8th. Before returning to school, students are expected to:

  • Make sure their uniform is ready to go: golf shirt, SJB pants, solid black shoes
  • Locate your lock for a locker; Grade 9 students will be provided with a lock.
  • Review the REVISED Student Handbook; this will also be emailed directly to all students; the contents will be reviewed at grade-level assemblies in September.
  • Please pay particular attention to the information pertaining to daily attendance and the consequences for repeated lateness.
  1. Student Timetables

Grade 9 students will receive their timetables when they attend Grade 9 Orientation. Students in Grades 10-12 will access their timetables via the online student portal.

  1. Stay Connected!

St. Jean de Brebeuf CHS is a busy place! In addition to periodic emails from the Administration, their are number of ways students, parents and guardians can “stay in the loop”:

  • School website; the school master calendar livestreams and is regularly updated
  • Twitter: @SJDBrebeufCHS
  • Instagram: st.jeandebrebeufchs
  • School app, available for FREE on the Google Play and Apple App stores

Throughout the school year, should you have any questions that pertain to your child(ren)’s courses, please contact the teacher first. Vice Principals are available for additional support. They are:

If more assistance is needed, Ms. Cosentino always glad to receive communication from parents and guardians and can be reached at christine.cosentino@ycdsb.ca or 905-851-3259.

We are in the process of updating our Guidance Department staffing. As soon as we are able, we will publish the Guidance support structure on our school website. Your patience is greatly appreciated.

It is our pleasure to welcome Ms. Siobhan Wright to the St. Jean de Brebeuf Community! Superintendent Wright will be supporting our school, along with the associated elementary schools.  We are excited to work with her and to share and show all that makes St. Jean de Brebeuf a truly wonderful and unique place. We extend our sincere appreciation to Superintendent Jennifer Sarna for her many years of supporting St. Jean de Brebeuf and wish her the very best with her new school assignments.

We are ever thankful for the partnership of the parents and guardians of this community. The school team is looking forward to a wonderful school year and ask for the intercession of our patron, St. Jean de Brebeuf, for continued good health and wellness for us all.
