Wearing the prescribed uniform everyday is an expectation for all students. The uniform only consists of the following:
1. A SJDB golf shirt or rugby shirt
2. Embroidered SJDB pants
3. All black, closed back and toe shoes
Anything else (i.e. 3/4 or full zip sweater) is optional.
Spirit Wear tops may be worn on Spirit Day (see calendar on the school website) with uniform pants and all-black shoes. These items are never a substitute for a golf shirt.
This has been consistently communicated since the end of August, when the Student Handbook was emailed to all students. We have had grade-level assemblies to reinforce expectations and communication has also been sent home via email. The Administration has undertaken progressive disciplinary action to address this infraction of our Code of Conduct. We have not noted a sufficient enough improvement.
For the next two weeks, the staff will be undertaking a “uniform blitz”. Students who arrive in class and not in uniform will be sent to the office. Students will meet with an Administrator. The Code of Conduct will be applied.
The way to avoid time lost during class time as a result of being sent to the office for uniform infractions is to simply arrive at school in full and proper uniform.
We are extremely proud of our school and all that we accomplish. Wearing the school uniform as expected is a reflection of the collective pride we all feel. It also serves as an important safety measure- the uniform is a unitive symbol of belonging in our school. We would greatly appreciate your support in ensuring that your child(ren) has/have the uniform ready for school each day. If there are any concerns, please proactively contact the appropriate Vice Principal.
