As per the announcement made today by Premier Ford, students and teachers will be engaged in remote learning and teaching from January 5-17. As we receive additional updates, we will communicate with you in a timely manner.
Expectations for the Next Two Weeks:
-
Classes will resume on January 5th. A Google Meet link will be available through all teachers’ virtual learning platforms.
-
Students should be checking their Google K12 email accounts on a daily basis for updates.
-
If your child is in need of a device, please contact his/her respective Vice Principal. That said, as we have been lending devices to students all semester, they are in limited supply. We will assess needs on a case by case basis.
-
Students are expected to attend each of their classes daily, on time and for the full duration. Remote learning will take place during regular school hours- 8:20 am-2:20 pm.
-
Any absences must be reported by parents or guardians through the Safe Arrival app or phone line before 8:20am on the day of the anticipated absence.
More information about the structure of the school day for the next two weeks will be forthcoming.
This is just for two weeks. While the situation is less than ideal, we ask that students do their best to keep motivated and focused. We remain positive and hopeful, and will continue to support student needs as best as we can. Taking time for self-care, including a consistent sleep schedule and good nutrition, will help in coping with the demands of virtual learning.
We are continually grateful for your continued support and patience. Should you have any questions, you are always welcome to contact the school: 905-851-3259 or sjdbh@ycdsb.ca. Thank you.
